I don't usually read spy thrillers: half the time I don't understand what's going on (don't laugh) plus they make me feel tense, even disturbed (no laughing matter). But I found this one compelling and entertaining. I think that William Boyd has a talent for transporting his reader to different environments with just a few words. I'm certainly going to seek out more of his novels.
A small and belated September update for 2024, where I am still, after many years' membership, on 365 Project, also now posting elsewhere but wanting...
Love the way you have captured the birds waking up.
You are lucky to have seen the sun. We had snow again overnight and another grey day today. Snow forecast again tomorrow!
@pyrrhula Well that's the first thriller I've read! I have some art books too and wonder if you have the same or different ones as me. I have van Gogh (you already knew that of course), Munch, Klimt, Dalí, Monet, Miró, Matisse, Derain...
Thank you all for your comments. I have to admit that I only saw some of the birds in the sunrise when I took the photo and found the others when I loaded it up on to the computer - nice surprise!
If you really were waiting for sunrise at 8.21am then you must be a fair bit north of me. Manchester sunrise was 8.07am today!!

Any in particular you would recommend?
We had a small sprinkling of snow overnight - hardly enough to see but it is very cold and very grey still - 3C on my car dashboard.
