.....Ray and I got engaged. This fact seems not only very ordinary but also quite extraordinary . How can it be? All those years....
It was quite difficult to get a passable shot of my ring and I feel that my efforts have made it seem rather grand, which it's not, just a modest ring but I love the colour of the peridot or olivines.
(I followed Clare's example in her jewellery enterprise and finally photographed the ring on slate - in my case a cheeseboard which came free with one of Neil's deliveries from his wine club!)
A small and belated September update for 2024, where I am still, after many years' membership, on 365 Project, also now posting elsewhere but wanting...
Congratulations Hazel, I suppose it works with the slate as they both come from the earth. A pretty ring and you have caught the light in it very well.
What a beautiful ring. And blessed you 44 years. My husband and I have been together almost 30 years. Every morning I wake up and think, "Gosh, he's lucky!"
Oh, I too was wondering how to best photograph rings. They seem so, I don't know, flat? Maybe they did it on the mundane challenge. I'll check. If not they could.
I think it's the sparkle of gold etc which is a problem and also the light through the stones. I know that my daughter, Clare, who works as a silversmith and makes and sells her own jewellery, made a lightbox at some stage.
Those stones are a beautiful colour; you made me think how long ago we got engaged.................32 years I think; known him for 39 years............goodness how time flies
Very beautiful ring with lots of great and warm memories. Congratulations to you both and have a nice day and a splendid evening.
(To be honest, if you ask me now on mine I`ve to ask my wife. It`s more.)
Warmest wishes, lovely ring, love the photo, how time flies, it goes in a blink, unfortunately.... Our engagement anniversary has just gone yikes 40 years! !! Our 40th is the end of the year, funny thing, inside my head doesn't match what I see in the mirror!!!
Margaret, thank you and the mismatch between inside the head and in the mirror is the same for me too! I think what's inside the head is the most important?!
Thank you!
Thank you kindly!
Thank you - I don't know why I remember our engagement date as I'm usually hopeless with dates - I guess it made an impression on me!!!

See - I told you that you had a way with words!!!
Thank you Richard - well we were rather conventional in 'the olden days'!!!!
Hey congrats too
Thank you all for congratulations, your interest and comments and for your own memories too. Glass of wine later, yes - pink sparkling I think!

Thanks, Marilyn, and yes, and I seem to have stirred up memories for other folk too.
Thank you for congratulations and and a coincidence it would have been your father's 88th today. Memories..........
Debbie, thank you for good wishes.
Many, many congratulations to you both :)
Thank you Darren. I must admit it's been really 'awesome' sometimes........ but here we are!!!!
Thanks for the congrats and for your comments, Anne!
