I noticed the light coming in from the cathedral entrance and then realised I also had two figures in the frame. I took this shot in colour with the intention of converting it to b&w which I did on FastStone, plus I upped the contrast, and lowered the highlights.
This is my third year of flashofred and I think at last I am beginning to get more understanding of b&w. It seems to me that light is more important in a b&w shot than in colour................
A small and belated September update for 2024, where I am still, after many years' membership, on 365 Project, also now posting elsewhere but wanting...
I like the fact that the people are almost hidden, a surprise to discover, I also love the symmetry of the light and dark areas. Nice job on everything.
Hey, well done Hazel! You're quite right... the light brings out form and structure which is a hugely important aspect of b&w. The light on those pillars and arches (and the contrast with the darker areas) makes the shot.
Thank you! I had a feeling of having forgotten something....
Oh thank you, I love your enthusiasm!
