I should have taken a before photo. This is what I've been spending my mornings doing. And because it's in the 90's, it takes me all afternoon to cool down. I saw deer two lots down this morning. First time ever. My friend said they probably smelled the newly turned over soil. Just my luck. And they love sunflowers. I'll keep you posted.
There’s that neat little windmill! I’ll keep my fingers crossed for your sunflowers. You have much better gardening skills and ambition than I do. I only dream of being a real gardener and then the weeds take over.
Get the deer spray now! My lilies have shown some signs of nibbling- but the repellent seems to have held them off. Your garden is going to look very nice when it's in full bloom- especially with your windmill.
@digitalrn Thank you Rick. I don't think I enjoy it like you do. I should have followed your lead and mulched it and put pots of flowers out. We'll see how it goes. @mcsiegle Thank you Mary. We gave the windmill to my father-in-law and when he died we took it. I love the way its rusting. When I moved it to its new home this year, the gentlemen who moved it for me greased it up to keep it moving. And it sure has been moving since then. I'm not a gardener. In fact I hate it and am pretty sure I won't be very good at the weeding that comes next. But I love the flowers. @craftymeg Thank you Margaret. I'm sure if it does well, you'll see it again. @hajeka Thank you Henk-Jan. I appreciate a garden and a good gardener. @olivetreeann You know, Ann. I haven't seen deer near this house until the morning I put the seeds in. (Before I put my seeds in) I lamented to my friend that I guess I'll be seeing more wildlife. I hope it will. I thank you. And I will be posting photos if it does grow and bloom. @pyrrhula Thank you Ferry. I hope it gets better looking everyday.

@will_wooderson Yes, but it's not my favorite pasttime.
