From Native American flower lore comes this Dogwood legend. The Cherokee believed that a tiny people lived amidst the Dogwoods and that this divine little race was sent to teach people to live in harmony with the woods. The “Dogwood People,” as they were called, were very kind; they protected babies and took care of the old and infirm. It is said that when the Cherokee learned to speak English – they began to call the Dogwood people “brownies.” https://dogwoodgardenclub.org/legends-of-the-dogwood/
@jamibann I'm glad you liked this Issi. I guess there are no dogwoods where you are since they seem to be native to North America. @haskar Thank you Hannah. It wasn't intended to be mysterious, but it was beginning to get dark. @kjarn Thank you Kathy. @pusspup I like them too. I had two, but one died two years ago. Glad you enjoyed the legend. Let me know if you see a brownie. @bkbinthecity Thank you Brian. @wakelys They grow wild in our woods and those are white like this one.
