@summerfield I'm not sure if I remember Mom using this or not. I suspect if she did, it was when she had lady friends over and I would have been at school. @onewing Primary school. I don't think I would have had the needlework skills to make something like this at that age. @pusspup You know I really don't know how old it is. I really don't remember Mom using it. @wakelys Do you use one when you make a pot of tea or do you usually brew it by the cup? @grammyn I did not make this. It's old because use can see signs even in this shot of some deterioration. Thanks Katy @brillomick Thank you Mickey. The knitting pattern used does make deep ridges. @thewatersphotos Thanks Gary. I still see patterns for them so I guess some people still use them. Maybe it will be a project for me in the upcoming year to knit a new one myself. @will_wooderson Thank you Will/ @busylady I'm glad to hear that because i've wondered about that. I need to knit myself a mug cozy. I tend to drink more coffee than tea. @rensala Isn't that funny. I always thought my mom made it, but perhaps it was manufactured and she bought it in a store. @craftymeg Mom must have used it before my time because I don't remember it. Just found it after she died. @pyrrhula Everything helps and we should consider some of the ways of the past. @bkbinthecity Thank you Brian. @joemuli Thanks Joey.
Yes we had one and my mum said there was only one way to make a pot of tea and the pot must be heated then when the tea has been added the pot had to be rotated. the cozy to be placed on to keep hot. I think it was an over kill as that's what her mother told her who came from England a lot colder than here. The other thing was that most people drank tea and coffee was not something that most people drunk. No such thing as instant coffee. We don't seem to have the numbers now to enjoy a cuppa at the dinner table any longer.
My partner still drinks tea from the pot and tea bags are unthinkable.

@mirroroflife Mom made tea in a very similar manner, but she did use tea bags.
