Get Pushed Challenge #591
My partner challenged me to juxtaposition in photography involving placing contrasting elements side by side within a composition. I wasn't familiar with this name for this style of photography but when I researched it I did recognize it. I looked around and couldn't find anything, so I decided to set up a scene myself.
@olivetreeann Thank you Ann. I appreciate your support. @wakelys Thanks Sue. From the photos I looked at to get an idea what the challenge really was, this seemed to be what others did. @cdcook48 Thanks Chris. @corinnec Thanks Corinne. I admit, I had to clone out a bit of the light that backlit the vase. Just couldn't get the angle right and wasn't going back to do it again. @johnfalconer Thanks muchly John. @rensala I appreciate your comment Renee. @30pics4jackiesdiamond Thanks so much Jackie. A good crop will give symmetry. A bit of a defiance to rules of composition, I'm afraid I often like the subject in the center of things, 'cause, well, it's the subject. @grammyn Thanks so much Katy. The light is the result of a nice flexible goose-neck light that I bought at Ikea a number of years ago. @onewing Thank you Babs for your thumbs up. @kjarn Thank you Kathy. I like how it made the red marbles glow. @shutterbug49 Thank you so much Debbie. I had forgotten I had those red marbles. Glad I dug them up. @kwind Thanks so much. @pusspup Thank you. @jamibann Thanks very much @mcsiegle Thank you Mary. Yes, once I saw it, I couldn't not use it.
Thanks Kathy, that is a really lovely image - a fave. I guess another name for the challenge would have been just to do opposites, but I liked the word 'juxtaposition'. I love the way the red marbles almost glow and yet the sole white marble is so evident in the photo. Fabulous.
@photographycrazy Thank you Bill. @dkbarnett Thanks Delwyn. I was able to find examples for juxtaposition on Google so it made it fun to determine a subject.
