In anticipation of the participation in July's Artsy Gang challenge, I pulled together what art supplies I could find and tried painting a couple birthday cards. Found my brushes were not so good, so I had time to order more before I begin this watercolor stuff in earnest. Got to figure out how to use the painter's tape, too. I pulled some of the paper off on the cards when removing the tape. Any tips would be appreciated.
They look good to me! Does it have to be blue tape? Would archival tape used for backing pictures to mats in frames work? It's designed to be less sticky.
@shutterbug49 I'm not sure what blue tack is. Thank you for the tip and the critique. @olivetreeann Thank you Ann. The painter's tape was some that was sitting out. I bought it on my trip to Canada thinking it would help to keep the camera battery in the charger when it was plugged into a wall outlet. I had bought some blue painter's tape earlier but had put it up. Will have to get it out. I used the tape to "wall off" the areas not being painted to keep them more pristine like a frame. @30pics4jackiesdiamond Thanks so much Jackie. Fun to do. @corinnec Thank you. YouTube makes it much easier when you can just follow along with the artist.
Hi Kathy, nice start and birthday cake!
If you dab your tape on your clothes before you use it and always peel at a close angle to the paper so you don’t rip the paper. Hope this helps. Most tape is too sticky even low tack or not enough tack!!
