Soften the focus

Get-Pushed Challenge 499
My get pushed partner issued this challenge: shoot soft or out of focus - your choice of subject. I thought this would be a snap. Haha! I tried shooting through a stocking (which this is how this was done) and using blur tools in Photoshop. I was less satisfied with the PS photos.
@salza Thank you for this challenge. It didn't work out how I had visualized it. I think the first problem was the original photo. I really didn't like them (the awful background was a big part of the problem) but I was running out of time so decided to use what I had. I have to say I don't much are for the use of the stocking. It made the whole photo sort of grainy. If I do this again, I'd probably try the Vaseline. All in all it was a good learning experience.

The flowers are pretty and have a lovely dreamy feel. I think that I would try applying a gausian blur to the background in photoshop as the colour works with the flowers. It's the texture or pattern that dominates. It's really a great response to the challenge that I set you.

I think it turned out well Kathy. I find it when I want something to be sharp and crisp I can never get it like that and always end up with blurred photos. maybe you should have tried that!

@salza Thank you for the feedback. I thought I had tried that particular blur, but I tried so many... I will the next time. And you're right. The background was a bad choice. Too much pattern and texture.
@will_wooderson Good that I hadn't thrown them all away.
@joemuli Thanks Joey. You're always so kind.
@taffy Thank you Taffy. I appreciate you saying that.
@grammyn Thanks Katy. Next time that might be my go to technique.
@wakelys Thanks Susan. I'll come clean. It wasn't an original idea.
@kjarn Thank you Kathy.
@pyrrhula Thanks Ferry.
@thewatersphotos Thanks Gary.
@jamibann Thank you Issi.
