Saguaro by redy4et

Saguaro

My weekend in Arizona was mostly work, with little time to play but I managed to grab a few shots of the magnificent Saguaro cacti in the parking lot at the convention center. To eliminate the telephone wires and multitude of trucks surrounding these gargantuan living monuments, I severely cropped this shot and enhanced the colors. These desert plants are typically a dull green color with sharp, nasty thorns. I know because I accidentally backed into one during my brief photo shoot.

The Saguaro cactus is found exclusively in Southern Arizona and Sonora, Mexico. The largest tree-like cactus in the U.S, they develop branches or arms that generally bend upward .Although its roots are only 4-6” deep, a Saguaro can grow 40-60 feet tall and live up to 200 years.
Very nice. Love the tones.
