Prickly Pear Cactus by redy4et

Prickly Pear Cactus

Here's another smaller desert cactus called the Prickly Pear which was growing under the towering Saguaro seen in yesterday's photo. It grows about 3 feet tall and produces an edible fruit that can be eaten raw, cooked into jam or syrup. Its sap is used as a first aid treatment to soothe wounds and burns.
Beautiful cactus! i didn't know they had so many colors in them.
