Catalina Island,which lies southwest of Los Angeles, can be clearly seen on the horizon on this day. Power boats speed to the tourist spot in under three hours but it takes about 7 leisurely hours to sail over.

@888rachel Yes that's an oil rig offshore. There are about six of them located several miles out where they do oil drilling.
