The view from the Empire State Building was as spectacular as I had remembered it from a previous visit in the 90's. We arrived at the top just before sunset but the clouds obliterated the chance for a colorful sky so I focused on the jumble of buildings spread out below me. I live in a small beach town where a two-story building with a roof deck is considered high up so the sight was quite breathtaking!
Isn't that just amazing Elizabeth....I hope to visit NY in November & hope I will be able to go up there.
Incidentally is November a good month to visit...don't want to be too near Christmas ...we thought around the 14th?
@happypat I don't live in New York so I'm not sure about the best timing but the weather is always changeable. This week it was 78 degrees on Monday. Tuesday night it snowed, went to 34 degrees!
Vertigo alert! Great photo, it's incredible how high up you can be without actually flying! It's frustrating when the clouds and haze rolls in isn't it! Heidi and I were at the top of the Burj Khalifa in February complete with haze.
I've been waiting for Manhattan shots and this one is fabulous!!! This is still on my bucket list to photograph -- when Junko and I were there, we went to take night shots but didn't know we wouldn't be able to use tripods. So, we have to go back with our beanbags instead! I love the way you captured both the peaks of the nearby buildings and the way it goes on and on to the horizon.
@happypat You can't go wrong in NY as every type of weather brings new opportunities for photography -- even rain. Keep in mind no tripods allowed on the top of this building, so if you have a beanbag, or someone suggested buying rice and putting it in a sock -- then you can toss it out when you are done -- use that for night shots from this site.
Wonderful shot of the city from up high! I remember being on the deck of the Empire State Building, and almost getting blown away on a sunny, but very windy day! Yes, I love those buildings, and the hustle and bustle, and the energy of the city! Imagine how I felt when I moved here from the heart of Manhattan!! So glad you were able to go up there and get a bird's eye view!
