The Fifth Avenue Presbyterian Church, built in 1808, of New Jersey red sandstone. Designed in the Victorian Gothic style, it seats 2,000 in an unusual interior that features no right angles. The pews fan outward with a balcony surrounding the entire first floor, allowing a clear view of the pulpit for the entire congregation. Once the tallest building in Manhattan (1875) it's imposing facade still dominates despite the towering skyscrapers and trendy boutiques that surround it on all sides.
