The scale of this magnificent complex is so massive it’s hard to render a photo that does it justice. Our group had hoped to visit at sunset but instead we ended up there at mid- day in the rain. Tripods weren’t allowed and neither were shoes (you have to doff your shoes before entering all Buddhist shrines) so there we were, barefoot, walking on the slippery tile, trying to hold an umbrella in one hand and steady a camera with a telephoto lens in the other. It was a scenario we would repeat throughout our trip. In fact, we got quite good at it!
This is beautiful....oh, and it brings back such wonderful memories!! If it is any consolation, there was scaffolding on that beautiful golden dome when we were there, so at least you got unobstructed views!! Such an amazing structure....FAV!
I just looked at your exif and noticed that you shot this with a 12mm wide angle, and still it is impossible to capture the vastness of that space, and the scale of it all!
