that looks like a dried allium - they are beautiful purple (or white) globes when in bloom, and almost equally attractive dried - often used in dried arrangements. Those black things are seeds that have yet to fall onto the ground.
A good focus. I planted alliums to attract butterflies. They are great for photographing when in bloom or dried and as a bonus to photograph the butterflies they attract.
