Archiving and backing-up. Today I couldn't put all of my trip-to-Boston photos on my laptop: I ran out of disk space. So I've been burning DVDs for the second back-up copies so I can delete the files from my laptop hard drive. It's times like this when I *do* miss film...
I do that every so often just in case, and I have been glad about that at least one time in the past. Would have lost a bunch

I use an external hard drive for back up. Much easier (and takes up less space) than the discs. They can be bought pretty reasonably these days too. Cool shot, btw! :) I like the lines and colors.

Wonderful idea! If I only knew how. I save every full SD card from my camera because I don't know how to move pictures to discs. I'm the crazy lady with a million tiny cards, locked. I'll catch up with technology one of these days.....

@digitalrn My feeling is that we've gotta do something systematic. My daughter has a photo in her apartment that I liked. I said it wasn't mine and asked her where she got it. She said it *was* mine. Hmm. Checked the DVDs and sure enough. For these senior moments, it's especially helpful having a system!

When I only had a P&S, I burned CDs and DVDs. But once I bought the T2i in 2010 and started shooting RAW in early 2011, I quickly ran out of space on my hard drive and realized that even DVDs weren't going to cut it. Of course, external hard drives sometimes get dropped ( http://365project.org/rhoing/365/2011-07-24)...

@mandyj92 It's easier to put labels (like dates and image-numbers) on big disks than little SD cards. If you take Cindy's advice (which coincides with the advice of many), get an external hard drive. I saw a 2Tb drive in Walmart this weekend for about $130 I think. Then set up your camera software to upload to the external hard drive. Then you can stop collecting and
