It’s soooo nice to see the brown colors of winter being replaced by the green colors of springtime!
Went for a row today to “test drive” the replacement rigging we bought for our Alden Ocean Shell. One of the units we acquired with the shell broke last fall: both metal rails cracked. We had it welded, but the repair isn’t usable. The replacement rigging has two really nice features, but it arrived last Thursday improperly assembled at the factory. Clare did an outstanding job of rowing that rig on Saturday; frankly, I don’t know how she did it.
Yesterday I took it apart and reassembled it properly and took the Alden out to test it. It was actually fun to row the Alden again! Even if the mid-day temperature was in the mid-80s already!

Thom - the reflections are beautiful! It is so nice seeing the greens coming in. I did a similar shot at a pond like this - then I rotated it, and put the relection up as the photo - it gave a rather mystical look to it - most people didn't even realize they were looking at the reflection!
@sparkleplenty1 There are a few ripples in the foreground of this one, so rotating it 180° won't be totally effective and the first time I do this, it needs to be, well, nearly perfect!
@chauncygirl I love that this is where I get my "funnest" exercise (and often my *best* exercise, too)! It's such a rush to be entirely responsible for your own propulsion and steering! I still remember the smile on my wife when she paddled away from a dock on her own for the first time!
@furrylens Hmm. Now that I think about it, I won't go out when it's *perfect*: that implies earlier in the morning than all of my muscles are willing to do, but when it gets really hot this summer, I hope to give the crack-of-dawn a try!
@digitalrn In this case, having rowed the rig a bit on Saturday when it was improperly assembled, this was so much fun. It's a sport of centimeters and small angles. But turn those angles the wrong way [altogether] and it's hard, inefficient and no-fun-at-all!

@sailingmusic Amen!

@portereliz1958 @karens68 That's what I was going for!

@scooter Thanks so much!
