Station stop Dallas, Texas

With the Hyatt Regency Dallas in the background. The porter for our sleeping car, pressed into service from his usual duties in “coach,” is standing next to the small, yellow step stool…

I have to comment on your photo from a year ago. It brought back such happy memories! I went to Northeastern U. in Boston, and, at that time, was majoring in history, My co-op job was with the National Park Service in Philadelphia, and I gave many "lectures" in the assembly room of Independence Hall - also Congress Hall. In the summer, I gave walking tours of the Independence National Park area - oh, how I loved that job! In your photo, I see the "Rising Sun" chair, along with the inkwell used by all the signers of the Declaration of Independence - I loved being surrounded by so much history. When I worked there, the Liberty Bell was just outside the assembly room, and visitors could walk right up and actually touch it. I hear things are a lot different now.

@michelleyoung Sadly, there were few times when we had a sense of being up higher than in a "normal" train. But it was a different kind of train in terms of "accommodations." It's still a great way to travel! I wish our country were more "into" trains as an effective mode of travel. As energy gets more and more expensive, …

@sparkleplenty1 Philly was a great trip, too. Very different cities, Philadelphia and San Antonio! Thanks for sharing a bit more of your personal experiences, Joyce!
