MIN 55 MM

f/8, 1/200 sec., ISO-100, 55 mm.
I was strolling through the gardens with the 18-55mm lens and a +4 close-up filter. I rarely see this kind of bee in our gardens and I've never seen the daisies get bee visits, so I wasn't about to switch filters or lenses. Sooooo, to get this close I really had to get this close! Fortunately, no photographer (or insect) was harmed in making this image.

Confirmed at BugGuide as “Eristalis tenax” or “Drone Fly”; http://bugguide.net/node/view/680412
