My last 8 posts (and last 10 of 12 posts) have been winged subjects: dragonflies, butterflies, moths and a bird. Today I walked through the “campus woods” that lie between my building and the parking lot I used today. Shortly before I emerged from the woods, I noticed this campus resident finding breakfast not 25 or 30 feet from the path. A post two months ago — http://365project.org/rhoing/365/2012-05-01 — was shot with a telephoto lens zoomed out to 250mm. This one was shot with my normal lens at 55mm. (Gah! I should have had the 55–250, MaryBeth!) This guy was so unbothered by my presence, I probably could have changed lenses, but I was just too surprised to think of that.
I was going to post another “staged” shot, but that one is reproducible (and may be tomorrow’s post); besides, I like the pattern of light on the youngster’s back.

COOL! No wings. The light makes it look like one of those little "deer" type animals that are in Africa...forget the name. Or maybe it was one of those ancient, now extinct deer...the sun looks like stripes. Very very good capture!
