Wood furniture by rhoing

Wood furniture

From before the days of particle- and composite boards.
When furniture-making reflected genuine craftsmanship.
When style was given to legs and feet, even if only toddlers and pets were at the right height to appreciate the work. (Or a hack photographer, decades later.)

Shot 9 frames today; trashed 8 of them. This is the lone survivor.

The best of days, and pride of ownership

There's nothing like a well made piece of furniture. Much better than the flat packed stuff xx

My husband works in the wood industry and always loves the 'real' furniture. We just brought home two of my grandmother's tables with a large amount of carved details. No comparison.

@russianblue Ikea has its purposes, but isn't it amazing how hand dove-tailing can outlast metal hardware and fasteners? A friend's old rocker, http://365project.org/rhoing/365/2012-02-24.
We've been glad our siblings haven't wanted some of these pieces:
old rocker, http://365project.org/rhoing/365/2012-01-20;
older daughter's dresser, http://365project.org/rhoing/365/2012-01-06;
younger daugher's dresser, http://365project.org/rhoing/365/2012-01-21.
All have been well-used and -loved!
