Stink Bug on Black Pearl by rhoing

Stink Bug on Black Pearl

Sigh. Another low-frame-count day (10 before deleting those I won’t keep). But this stink bug stood out pretty starkly on a “Black Pearl” — http://365project.org/rhoing/365/2012-09-14 — “Capsicum annuum,” family Solanaceae).
(Submitted to bugguide.net for confirmation; possibly “Red-shouldered Stink Bug”, “Thyanta custator.” Looks like submission was “frassed.”)

Love the contrast of the light green on the black.

Ditto on the contrast.

The green looks good on the black. Do these really stink? My husband (from GA) points out similar bugs as stink bugs, but they look nothing like the ones we had in WY that truly did stink. Just a curiosity...
