What a boring way to begin a new month. I have been grading graduate student exams, so I have been tunnel-visioned these last few days, particularly with Clare out of town with her mom. (This may be the only frame from today that stays out of the Recycle Bin.) I saw this bloom in the woods on campus walking from my car to my office this morning. I like the simple colors and the “cheerfulness” of this subject … even if it’s a weed that may be politely called a “wildflower.”

@netkonnexion Thanks! The DOF was another feature of this image that I liked. Perhaps it's a sign of advancing years that I like images with a significant DOF effect: perhaps it means I want the image to do the work for me and direct my eyes? (I actually mean this as a semi-serious question.)
@lwain I'm a lucky man! Married to the love of a lifetime with 2 great kids. A lovely campus to walk (and take photos) at work. And a gorgeous lake for a "gym" to maintain my fitness and refine my sculling skills. Life is indeed good, Lindy! :)
