[A bit more fun enlarged.]
Almost 9 p.m. and Clare says, “Hey, if you don’t have a photo to post yet, there’s a bug down here.” Ahhh — thank you, Sweetie! This little guy, with antennae as long as its body, was on the blinds in the kitchen window. Dude, you’re on the wrong side of the glass. (Still, “No wasp was harmed blah-blah-blah…”) I liked the shadows in this shot … from a flash again!
Confirmed at bugguide.net as Enicospilus purgatus (Family Ichneumon, Genus Enicospilus), an “Ichneumon wasp”; http://bugguide.net/node/view/722797

that is a really awesome shot! love the lines, the shadow and the details on the little guy! so great she thought of you to shoot this bug! what a find!
Yay for supportive spouses! This is so good! How did you get such a good shot indoors? I love the clarity of the wings and the shadow makes it artsy even! I know these wasps....I have taken pics of them twice in my project ...the first time after she had drilled her hole to place her eggs and the other was that weird ne where one was n a tree depositing her eggs. I wonder why this one doesn't have a drill coming out the back? A male, maybe?
