This will be the year of the “no-ornaments Christmas tree.” Last Sunday we drove home from my dad’s funeral weekend in Michigan. That was the day we were to have our tree decorating dinner with our dearest friends in Carbondale. Unable to simply reschedule with Raymond & Jeanne, we thought we might hang ornaments after the girls arrived on the 21st. We realized we’d be taking them down and re-boxing them just four days later when we hit upon the idea of sparing ourselves that work and just let it go with lights, red-and-gold “bead-garland” and the angel on top. So 2012, when we said good-bye to my dad, will be the year of the no-ornaments Christmas tree…

Beautiful capture of what must be a beautiful tree, but so sorry to read about your dad's passing. My sincere sympathy and prayers to you and your family.
This is a really beautiful Thom. I'm sorry for the sadness around your dad this time of year. I bet that your tree is still really pretty - nothing wrong with minimalist and spending the time instead with your wife and daughters. Merry Christmas Thom.
