I didn’t think this would be a difficult quote to track down, but our copy of Bartlett’s has no entry for “Time waits…” Hmmm.
An online search quickly reveals several possibilities, several predating Shakespeare and his contemporaries, but Bartlett’s is probably correct in not having an entry: the proverb or saying is probably so old as to not be accurately attributable!

[A simpler, alternative title, “Clocks,” would be attributable to Berryman, Buckland, Champion & Martin. :-) ]

@danette Thank you, Danette! Both girls arrived home safely and they intersected with each other — with their respective "guys" — to celebrate New Year's Eve. It's so rewarding to see your children choose to be friends after they move out and become adults!
@danette How old are yours?
One problem with "youth" (in my case, "youth" lasted well into my 40s!) is that young people operate under the illusion that they're in charge of their own life. When they realize they are not, amazing things can happen!
@rhoing 28 and almost 26. There was a tiff over Christmas. Impatience and intolerance on both sides. Two different personalities that use to be close. Different paths have gotten in the way. You are right with what you say. All I really hope for is understanding. My in-laws have not modeled it well.
@danette Ahhh, virtually the same ages as my girls. One of my major epiphanies didn't happen until 46. The other at 51. You may have to wait 20+ years, mom, but keep the faith and trust in YouKnowWho!
