Unknown Aster by rhoing

Unknown Aster

I didn’t bother trying to ID this plant in the greenhouse because I didn’t imagine I would have to use this as my post. Sigh. In the Asteraceae family.

I shot a bird-of-paradise flower (Strelitzia reginae) from an angle not usually seen, but there was *too much* depth-of-field, so when I gray-scaled it, the flower got lost in the background.

I also photographed a “cigar plant” (genus Cuphea) but had a similar problem when gray-scaling for the flash-o-red “theme.”

Today is our good friend Raymond’s birthday and I tried getting a good shot of him, but I was unsuccessful with the point-and-shoot.

So we have this for-now unknown flower from the greenhouse, though I do like the effect of gray-scaling. I swear I am not making this up, but literally all I did was crop it a bit, remove the color and add my name. No messing around with tones, but the petals have a very unusual “look” to them.

The petals sort of "Glow." Weird. Nice shot!

@espyetta That's a good description, MaryBeth! (Glow is such a rare and difficult word, Thom...)
