“Pregnant onion” by rhoing

“Pregnant onion”

But guess what — it’s not even an onion. Chives, garlic, onion, scallion, shallots and Stars of Persia belong to the Alliaceae family and Allium genus.

This plant, “Ornithogalum longibracteatum” (possibly known as “Pregnant onion” or “False onion”) belongs to the Hyacinthaceae family. This “inflorescence” or cluster of flowers, is quite small, so this is definitely a macro shot! The colors that are missing are (not surprisingly, since this is new growth) pale greens to yellows.
