Grace is home and newly adorned on her left hand! No date has been set yet, but we're happy for them and we couldn't be happier than we are to welcome Neal into our family. They have known each other since 7th grade? 8th grade? Something like that. He was a neighbor two doors down and we like his whole family, too. (They were “just friends” until a couple years ago. While Clare & I may not have seen it, others have said it was apparent some time ago that there was “something between them.”)
Oh, right, the ring. It belonged to my mom's aunt. She was a successful businesswoman in the food brokerage business long before "successful" and "businesswoman" were used together very much. She was always well dressed and "accessorized." This ring passed to my mom and then to Clare. It's not really Clare's "style," so it's spent most of its time in Carbondale in our safe deposit box at the bank. But it's out now and on Grace's finger. Now each of the girls has a special engagement ring. (Jenny has her maternal grandmother's engagement ring diamond.)
This is a shot I'd like to have back. I have learned much since I shot this a few weeks ago, but oh well.

Exciting times ! And I like this ring! My ring is my grandfather's wide band with my mom and dad's diamond set on it solitaire style. Then I have my grandmither's thin band ....I love all the family history! Anyway....congrats to your daughter and sounds like they know each other well and are ready!
