White-spotted Redectis by rhoing

White-spotted Redectis

Apparently an uncommon moth. BugGuide hasn't had an Illinois data point since 2007. This guy was just hangin' out next to the front door of our house when I left for an afternoon meeting. Not the best photo and ETSOOI’ed, but kind of a jet-plane-looking thing, especially with the wing shape and the black spots on the trailing edge.

Confirmed at BAMONA as “Redectis vitrea”; http://www.butterfliesandmoths.org/sighting_details/1096748

Confirmed at BugGuide as “Redectis vitrea” or “White-spotted Redectis” (Hodges#8401); http://bugguide.net/node/view/1277378
