Ripping out a dead bush by rhoing

Ripping out a dead bush

I'm getting too old and arthritic to be digging out bushes.
So I tried rope attached to the bush and the lawn tractor. No go; that just broke the cotton rope.
Clare asked if we had any length of chain. As a matter of fact, we do!

Years ago I saved the chains from a wooden porch swing that couldn't be washed and varnished one more time. Connecting a couple lengths with an S-hook and voilà! No digging and no back strain. :-) I just wish the chain were visible in the photo. :-\

Great idea, but I don't have the chain or the tractor. I think we'll have to hire it done.
