Yesterday with the high school freshman, today with my friends in their double.

Rowing terminology/shells — In a
“Double” each of two people have 2 oars (so 4 oars in the water);
“Pair” each of two people have 1 oar (so 2 oars in the water).

He's 6'4"; she's a fit fitness instructor/personal trainer. I have 10+ years on each of them. I struggled to not-quite-keep-up with them for the 16K...
