My repairs have been completed, so I took this shell out for its first row in almost two years. The repairs seemed to hold and it felt good to go faster.
After about two miles, I had an unbalanced stroke and flipped; into the water I went. Long story short,
» I lost my Clic reading glasses to the bottom of the lake;
» my phone was swimming in water in its ostensibly “waterproof” pouch;
» I forgot this P&S camera is not submersible, so it’s probably non-functional now, too.
The longer story involves a slightly panicked moment; see my comment in the section below.
So replacement glasses had to be ordered and the phone and camera have gone into a zip-lock bag with all the accumulated packets of desiccant I have been setting aside for several years for exactly this contingency.
Update: No go. After 48 hours in the zip-lock bag, neither device would power up. New phone ordered and back-ordered. It'll be about 2½–3 weeks before the new phone will ship. As for a replacement P&S, this is a wait-and-see repurchase. If the new phone has a decent camera, maybe I can be down to two photo-snapping devices instead of three.

@cocobella Indeed. There *was* a scary moment when I was underwater and couldn't get my feet out of the shoes... But all ended okay and I won't tie the shoes as tightly whenever "next time" comes.
@dutchothotmailcom@marlboromaam It was a humbling experience, but in the end, Life is Good! I still have my health, my soul mate of almost 41 years and grandchild #2 is due any time in the next month. :)
