[This photo was actually taken today.] As mentioned in yesterday’s post, this unit comes in one box as five component parts requiring assembly. The 8-foot overall length is broken into two pieces where the horizontal rail meets the slanted bar (with the “Concept 2” decal). The other three pieces are the two struts supporting the flywheel housing and the bar on the floor with the wheels.
January 31, 2023 edit. Through yesterday’s row, I have rowed 4,811,273 meters on this machine at home. That’s 4811.273 kilometers. Given the purchase price of the machine (just over $1,000), that comes to 21¢ per kilometer. It probably hasn’t quite “paid for itself” in terms of gym memberships saved, but it’s probably close. This would be hard to determine exactly because, for example, now I’m showering at home (water and heating the water). Hmm — but I’m also saving gasoline I would otherwise have burned driving to-and-from the gym, so maybe it
has paid for itself by now. But as I say, it’s probably close by now!
Notes.
Cost savings and additional expenses
– gym membership
– gasoline
– travel time to-and-from the gym
– miles on my
’08 car
+ water to shower at home
+ heated water
+ additional winter laundry
+ electricity in garage for lighting and fan(s) in summer, space heater in winter
