@danette Is that an existential question? Until we hit grapefruit season in January — https://365project.org/rhoing/365/2011-01-24 — we eat berries with our breakfast almost every morning, so there are almost always strawberries (and blueberries and raspberries) in the refrigerator.
No. It's full blown strawberry season here in Florida and I wanted to know if they came from here. When I had some about a month ago, they were so tasty and I commented "oh, they must be from Plant City". Sure enough, that is where they came from. I wondered how far they might be shipped.
@danette Alas, no such luck. Our out-of-season strawberries are “Product of Mexico.” At least they're a source of fiber, but sometimes they even taste like strawberries! It's partly why we switch over to having more grapefruit in the winter. (The bag of grapefruit I bought this week is labelled “Florida Ruby Red” and although the grove location isn't ID'ed, the distributor is in Vero Beach.)
@rhoing Ruby Red is the best! I’ll need to get some. We are going to Homestead over the weekend. There’s a cool fruit stand. I’ll need to stop. It’s unfortunate you can’t get our strawberries. They are good!
@danette A few nights ago, we sampled an HGTV show based in the Tampa area. The home they built was in Plant City. He said he enjoyed working in that area: it was an opportunity to get fresh strawberries and fresh-strawberry shakes. :)
Watched another episode of the HGTV
