Monthly reads - at the end of each month I take a photograph of the books I have read. I've been busy every weekend in June and had some difficult days at work so I went for light and easy reads this month.
Great idea, this. I keep a record of all the books I read every year, been doing so for several years now. Perhaps I should begin taking pics instead of an Excel file, too. :) "Her Ladyship's Guide to Modern Manners" sounds lovely, is it a novel as well?

@joa
I keep a list too and just started photographing them when I was stuck for a photo one day late in January! I did one book pile and then decided to do it monthly!

the modern manners one isn't a novel, it a guide to manners basically, I didn't like it because I felt it a bit patronising. The manners mentioned were mostly very basic so everyone should know and use them - I was certainly taught these things by my parents! It also had a section that felt quite useless detailing correct forms of address and etiquette relating to all sorts of people with titles, from the clergy to the aristocracy. The sister book on grammar was a much better read! I also do a post on my blog each month about what I have read. Last months is linked from May's book pile photo and these will feature some time in the next week.

@roachling Oh, so a real guide to manners. I thought it might've been a novel, perhaps with a touch of humour and perhaps set in an earlier decade of the 20th century or something. But ok, sounds like something I don't need to look for, because my parents did a good job teaching me manners, too! I'll check your blog for sure - and perhaps do the book pile photo as well. Although I read a lot less nowadays than I would like to. Finished the 1200 page historical novel (featured in one of my photos from June) just today, though. :)

I used to read avidly, many books a month, but I've got out of the habit when my four kids were growing up. Time to take up reading again I think. Thank you for making me think.

I used to be an avid reader until I went to uni and then I didn't have time to read as I worked and did uni via evening studies. I really got out of the habit so in 2011, after finishing uni and then doing some GCSEs and a BTEC, I decided to get back into it and I started adding 'read' to my to do lists which really worked! I read 75 books last year - helped by having my hours cut at work and not being able to find another job.

I keep an excel spreadsheet and I also use Goodreads to keep abreast of my book collection.

Cannery Row is one of my favourite books I was thinking about the characters for so long afterwards I really felt like I'd got to know them. Nice shot

@hasselhotch
I did too - I didn't really like how it ended - I felt suddenly cut off from the characters, as if the book was unfinished and I wanted to know what happened next!
