A close encounter

This is a leveret that I sat with for half an hour this evening. It was a magical half hour and a chance encounter on my way home from school.

Sadly, the reason I was this close to it is that it was blind :(
I met it in the road, realised it could only hear my car, so stopped and crept up on it.

Unfortunately, I only had my phone camera again (have lent my sister my main camera a few days and couldn't be bothered with the DSLR, not expecting to have any great photo opportunities ... damn!) and this was the most in focus and colour-correct photo I got. There is one other photo and a bit more info on my blog

Yes, a magic moment, but how sad that the leveret was blind; I hope those eyes are not painful. You are right, he or she will probably not live long. (I did look at your blog.) I once spent twenty minutes or so stealthily following a baby rabbit around in Edwards Gardens, as twilight was approaching. Got some pictures but nothing worth posting. But just being there was indeed magical, before he or she finally realized and dived into the tall plants. Fav for your capture.

How magical to sit all that time and see the sparrow hawk too. It's always the way that you don't have the right camera with you isn't it.
