This is a Staffordshire/Derbyshire custom that happens all over the counties from May to September. Last year I visited all of the Peak District well dressings and photographed them all. I won't be doing the same this year, though I usually get around to a good few of them anyway so I'm sure more will feature here.
Tissington was the first village to dress its wells this year. There are 6 dressings here, this is at the largest well.

Today has been a long day - I was out early for a wildflower related course and then went for a walk, visited the wells and spent the evening with family! I'm shattered now and have another busy day lined up tomorrow, so please excuse me not visiting your projects and commenting this weekend!
The team of volunteers who create these! I suppose they choose the most artistic person there to mark out the design on to the clay, then the whole team will work a section each to fill it in with petals, leaves, moss, seeds etc.
I visited Tissington, with my sister in law, from Devon, who was intrigued. We often go to the one at Newborough, which is closer to where we live. The amount of work is tremendous.

You can seem them being made in this time lapse video - three days work reduced to less than 4 minutes!
