After nearly 13 years together, Dave and I married in secret in Ilam, just the two of us, with staff at the venue as witnesses!
Afterwards, we drove down to Gloucester and spent one night in the lovely shepherd hut pictured before heading on to Cornwall the next day. We spent the evening drinking English sparkling wine from mugs by the fire, under a beautiful, clear sky with bats and owls all around us (and the horse in the orchard joined us briefly too!).
Dave's wedding ring is really cool - damascus steel with grey maple wood, dinosaur bone, Tektite (from meteor impacts) and a band of copper. (Look up Zebrano Wood Craft on Etsy for other amazing wood / metal ring creations. I'd have liked a ring from Zebrano myself but they wouldn't have worked on my tiny size I / J finger so I have traditional, boring but pretty rings)
We were never engaged (except by default on booking the wedding) so it was a surprise to everyone! We simply printed that 'we did' image in Cornwall and posted it to everyone we needed to tell!
I haven't been paying attention to 365 lately (well I haven't been paying much attention to anything really) so I completely missed this. Congratulations Louise (and Dave :-) !
Many congratulations! Having seen a reference to wedding photos, had to skim back to find the wedding - ha ha, not easy, a perfect private wedding looks like.
@boxplayer Thank you! Yes it was an easy post to miss I guess. We never got engaged, just got married without a word to anyone until afterwards! No fuss, no stress!
For those of you who wanted to see more photos, I've finally shared some! I know Kathy and Jackie have been waiting and have tagged others in case you wanted a nosy too (but feel free to ignore!) https://roachling.blogspot.com/2018/12/we-did.html
Thank you so very much, so lovely! And i didn't notice a label!! Love both your outfits, your bouquet and the button hold so elegant. Thank you again. X
Thanks for letting us share your photos of your special day. They are just lovely - my favourites were of the two of you in the barn, facing the camera with the little dog in the background. You both just looked so happy. Your dress and your hubby's outfit were fabulous together, especially with those beautiful natural floral arrangements. Thank you so much for sharing these. Cheers Rob
Thank you so much Louise, both your outfits were incredible and the floral arrangements were lovely. There is always so much pressure from both society and families to have the big ornate wedding but yours looked perfect, probably similar to what a lot of couples would really prefer.
Thank you all for your lovely comments :) It was hard work keeping it secret from everyone so I'm glad it's done and everyone knows now, haha!
