Beetle on fire

A filler from my Arizona trip. This is a Buprestid beetle in the genus Chrysobothris on the ground near some exposed Juniper roots. The Juniper is it's larval host, the adults feed on foliage between stints patrolling the roots for mates and ovipositional sites.
Neat beetle...love its collar.

Don't get in their way when they eye a good ovipositional site.
