Pearl Shell

This brooch was carved from pearl shell by my Uncle when he was fighting in WW2 in New Guinea. The clasp and its fitting were made from bullet casings. It is very treasured.
It is beautiful!

@lorid Thanks for your comment Lori - it was interesting to photograph - sometimes it showed the background colours and sometimes it just reflected everything.. Just realized I spelt "brooch" wrongly - better try to fix it. Cheers

How pretty, and all the more so knowing a bit of the story behind its making. It's color stands out nicely against the dark blue background.

@lyndemc Thanks Denise. It is quite special to us. I put this up yesterday as I wanted it in the" Macro- Shells" activity. I just put up the picture of the snake that I mentioned - he was amazing. Very exciting.
