Helmet orchids and Greenhoods

These are also small native terrestrial orchids which die off during summer. They have a very small bulb which shoots at Autumn and produces these funny little flowers. They also form in colonies and each flower is about 1/2 inch big.
I've never heard of a helmet orchid before - it really does look like one!

@casablanca Hi. Thanks for having at look at them. We had no idea what they were when they first came up years ago. Then the turkeys ate most of them!! The turkeys have gone and the orchids are coming back. Ours are white but in Western Aust they get red ones as well. They are pretty cool. Cheers Rob Z

@dkbarnett Hi Delwyn - Thanks for checking them out. The native orchids are so small they are pretty hard to find - makes it more exciting when you do. It'salso funny how very few of them actually look like orchids. Cheers Rob
