@dkbarnett Hi Delwyn - you are so right - 3 months is pretty incredible. These still look normal in real life - I just played with them for the ETSOOI challenge. Cheers
@fbailey Hi - thanks for your reply - it should be interesting to watch each others progress - I'm at about the same stage as you - truly an excellent hobby!! I was interested in your mention of Gavin Hoey and his tutorials - will have to have a look. Cheers Rob
@lovingandsharing Hi Kaye - thank you for your kind comment and for the fav. I must admit I played around with this just a little for the ETSOOI challenge. The "post production" process is so much fun. :)
@netkonnexion Thanks so much - especially for the comment on the editing. I love mucking around with it but sometimes wonder if the original wasn't better!! :)
Lovely lighting and translucence and frame within the frame...so what post did you do with this...just looks beautifully lit to me...your friendly literal photographer, Madeline
@granagringa Hey Madeline - it's going to be difficult to stop calling you Ganagringa!! You would be proud of me with the lighting - it is SOOC!! I shone a torch onto the bricks behind the orchid to get the transparent look. Then the texture added to the effect was a filter called "plastic wrap" The "marquee tool" allowed the arch shape to be cut out and pasted onto a new canvas. The "magic wand" then let me select just the outside section to add the grey colour - as a colour gradient. I'm sure your new program would have these - they may just be called something else. The marquee tool and magic wand are probably little icons on the tool bar - the filters and effects will probably be in drop down menus. The marquee tool, magic wand and "edge finder" tools would be good ones to find on your program - they all let you select just one part to apply effects to. Are you going to have a go at the august abstract theme?. We could take it in turns to give each other a challenge???
I have faved this..not only for the shot, but also the explanation...now I'll have to check to see if any of those tools are available on the processing programs I have....including picmonkey. Thanks for the explanation...ah...one step at a time..... And I am glad to see the lighting was SOOC...just because I'm so SOOC myself!
@granagringa Picmonkey is a good one that we can both access - so it would be a good one to swap ideas from!! I've only used it about 3 times so we could learn at the same time. It does seem to have lots of good stuff. I'll have a look for these selection tools and get back to you in a day or so. Cheers. P.S. Is there any way to contact each other without going through the "comment" boxes?
