The judge starts counting. Each contestant has a handicap. If you're very good at this you have to stand and wait while the others chop climb and climb and start chopping the log at the top.......
@taffy Thanks Taffy - it's a really exciting sport - one of the MUST DO events at the EKKA. It's a shame they have to have the safety net - it does affect the photos. Cheers and thanks for having a look.
@lyndemc Hi Denise. This is a very Aussie sport. It used to be mainly the professional timber-getters who took part. They had all of the gear needed. Now it's mainly country folk who carry on the tradition - often a whole family will compete in different events. It is a firm favourite at most shows. Really exciting to watch.
