The seahorses are reared in a series of tanks- from the tiny newborns - moved onto the kindy tanks - onto the primary school tank - teenage tank - and then out into the world. They are very sociable and like to stay in groups. They also learn to recognize their keepers and come over to the side of their tank when it's feed time.
@fbailey Hi FB - they were totally fascinating! I'm pretty sure most of them were sent to aquariums and breeding centres overseas. They did breed mainly Aussie species - I don't think they are harvested here - but loss of habitat is affecting them badly. They live a surprisingly long time eg there was one there which was 16 years old. Cheers :)
