You have to love The Dump Shop!

The rubbish tip at Stanthorpe has a recycling centre (know by all as The Dump Shop) which is run by the Endeavour Foundation to raise money to support local Downs Syndrome people. They get such an eclectic collection of items - some dumped, some donated - that people line up at the door on Saturdays waiting for the opening hour! It's terrific fun! This treasure is a vintage, silky oak, double-ended, single bed. It just needed stripping of the white paint, sanding and varnishing - just those things!! Many, many hours later it is actually starting to look like it's going to be worth the effort.
What a fantastic idea, I love it! I like the movement of work in progress here too.

Looks like you did a very good job with this one. A great idea to raise funds for any good cause.

What a great idea. So much hard work too. It's a big thing to paint unloved furniture here, I guess in 20 years time there will be tutorials on how to remove it!

Good work...both on bed and shot...like the blur...another technique you have mastered!

I'm impressed with your work on it, as well as the image.

@casablanca Hi Casablanca- it's a great concept - and it always means there's something being worked on around here - keeps us out of mischief!

@carvl Hi Carilone - a lot of the Downs teenagers work in the shop through the week - they love it too. :)

@suzanne234 I guess it depends on the type of timber - it's only worth the effort if it's something nice with a nice grain. I love silky oak!!

@granagringa Hi Madelaine. The camera and I have come to a sort of understanding about the blur! LOL. I'm not sure if the word "mastered" is deserved though - but it is very nice of you to say so!! Cheers Rob

@taffy Thanks Taffy - old furniture with good timber rewards you for the effort, and keeps you out of mischief!! :)
