My get-pushed partner asked me to "bring some cut flowers into my home, set up a table near a window with the light falling sideways onto the flowers. Build a still life with a few more objects that are sympathetic to the flowers and take a photograph by natural light with as wide open an aperture as you can manage." This was a bit tricky as I cannot directly control either the aperture or the shutter speed on my camera. This was the closest I could get but I was quite happy with the outcome and it make me actually set up a particular image rather than just wander around armed with my camera! :)
Beautiful still life and I like the colours of the flowers. Permit me to say that I would have taken the shot so that the still life objects are more to the left, creating a larger empty space to the right.
@sangwann Hi Dione - thanks for your suggestion - maybe I should crop a little off the left - it looks a little faded anyway! I'll have a go and see what happens!:)
@farmreporter Aww - thanks Wendy - you are too kind. And did you see - it ended up on the P.P. - quite amazing. After I'd uploaded it I thought to check the F stop - it actually wasn't the lowest one - but it did look better than the others. Thanks for a challenging challenge - it is good to get pushed out of your normal sphere of comfort! Cheers Rob
I hope you don't mind if I take a minute of your time to thank you all for your helpful and truly encouraging feedback on this image. The get-pushed challenge is wonderful for pushing you out of your normal happy little environment - and this definitely did that! So I really appreciated your comments and found it amazing that this actually ended up on the P.P.! Many thanks to all of you. You did a great job and it looks really nice. I like how you kept all the objects and flowers in a limited color range too- they are very complimentary to one another. I don't know about the SX620 but the SX50HS does have a manual setting where you can control that sort of thing. I've never used it though so I wouldn't be one to give instructions! Well done!
@olivetreeann Hi Ann - thankd so much for your feedback - I do appreciate it. My camera does have a manual setting but it is quite limited - you can alter the ISO. AWB, exposure bias, type of focus but not the shutter speed of aperture. The camera automatically assigns those depending on your choice. It does make things interesting but I'm pretty used to it now. Thanks again for your interest. Cheers Rob
Well done and A FAV!
