My first impression was that this is an eye ball but I know it isn't. Could it be a round pan? Whatever it is I like the composition and the light/dark contrasts.

Hi everyone - thanks for your interest in this - I never quite know whether to say what it was or not. It is very nice of you to have a guess! It was actually the top of a camping kettle in strong sunlight. It's always so satisfying when an everyday thing can produce an OK abstract - makes you keep looking.
