Hi Ann and Dione - this is one of the sections of town which was burnt out a few weeks ago. Normally there would be green shoots here already but it's been so hot and dry that nothing has happened yet. Hopefully this rain will let some seeds germinate and the trees reshoot. Hi Shutterbug and Peter - thanks for your interest. Australian bush has evolved with fire and usually regenerates pretty quickly. Some shrubs have seeds which only germinate after a fire and some can reshoot from the root system. The gums have several features for survival and it varies from species to species. However, for nearly all of them being burnt too often by really hot fires can still kill them. These ones should be OK hopefully. Cheers Rob @shutterbug49@peadar
